I can't understand why Bowstring bridge is being knocked down to accomodate for the ever growing de montfort university campuss? Surely it could be preserved and incorporated into the new proposed structure in some way. I would have a lot of respect for the architect if they can pull that off!

I'm so angry the demolition went ahead despite all the protests and support for saving it. Some powerful people at the Council and DMU really wanted this out of the way didn't they? They started demolition whilst valid proposals for listing the structure were still being discussed! It might not be unique in the eyes of English Heritage but it was unique to us who live in the area. Shame on you Leicester City Council. One Leicester - Zero Heritage!
