After Uluru the next stop on my February 2012 outback tour was Alice Springs. I drove around there in our hired Toyota camper for a while before checking out the local Coles supermarket. The weather was hot, I was hungry, unwashed. unshaven and hadn't used a proper toilet for days. I picked up a few essentials, went to the loo and rang my folks as I hadn't had cellular reception for a while. I think we also had a donut and made a cuppa in the back of the van in the car park before heading back the way we came. In less than an hour we had lost radio reception and were racing back to the middle of nowhere to go through it all again.
