The photo is of a Japanese spider crab (aka Macrocheira kaempferi). It is the largest known arthropod living at present time. Its natural habitat is the bottom of the Pacific Ocean around Japan where it eats shellfish and dead animals. This crab is believed to have a life expectancy of upto a 100 years.
